Mareda Awards are awarded alternate years to coincide with the
biennium Stephen C. Gilmour Award for Leadership in Ministry
and the Henriette M. Mackin Award for Support in Ministry. The
winners of the Mareda Excellence in Catechetical Ministry
Award and the Mareda Outstanding Support of Catechetical
Ministry Award will be announced at the May General Meeting.
The recipient of the Mareda Excellence in Catechetical Ministry
Award must be a current member of Mareda in good standing.
All nominations must include a nomination form and a letter of
recommendation. Past recipients of the Mareda Excellence in
Catechetical Ministry Award are ineligible.
Nominations from members of Mareda and non-members are
given equal consideration. The winner will be chosen on
his/her commitment and excellence in catechetical ministry.
All nominees for the Mareda Excellence in Catechetical Ministry
Award must be eligible for the Stephen C. Gilmour Award for
Leadership in Ministry.
• The nominees must be a degreed professional actively
engaged in parish catechetical ministry on a directorship level.
• He/she must be outstanding for his/her leadership and
achievements in the catechetical field.
The recipient of the Mareda Outstanding Support of
Catechetical Ministry Award is awarded to a nominee whose
service facilitates catechetical ministry. He/she may be support
staff or an outstanding volunteer including catechists,
secretaries, janitors, parents, liturgists, etc. (Diocesan
personnel are not eligible.) All nominees must be eligible for
the Henriette M. Mackin Award.
A nomination form and a letter of recommendation must
accompany all nominations.
